Mef university is a private, foundation university, located in the heart of Istanbul. This university is located in the Maslak area in the European part of Istanbul. The university is a fairly different university since it adopts a flipped education system. In the flipped education, the places of activities to be done at home and in the school are flipped and students are engaged with the topic at home. In other words, they learn the subject matter by themselves at home and then at the university, they will go into deeper levels with some techniques. This university is a new university which was founded at 2012 and started admitting students at the 2014-2015 academic year. This university was founded by Ibrahim Arikan education and research foundation. This foundation has been active in Turkey since 1970s and has established various tutoring schools throughout the country. The MEF university was the next step in building an educational system by this foundation.

The Mef university is a small university with a small campus and relatively small number of students. This university is home to less than 4000 students annually in 15 undergraduate and 36 graduate programs. There are also 4 PhD programs taught at this university. The university also benefits from 206 highly professional and knowledgeable academic staff. 35 professors at Mef university are international academics who currently work at this university.
