Istanbul Gedik university owes its existence to Halil Kaya Gedik, one of Turkey’s leading mechanical engineers. Halil Gedik graduated from Istanbul Yildiz university in 1950s and then continued his education in Germany. He worked in various companies in Germany and Turkey and gained valuable experience in the field of mechanics over those years. Later, he established the Gedik educational foundation to support young and talented students. In 2010, he established the Gedik university to strengthen the connection between university and industry in Turkey.
