The Piri Reis university is one of Turkey’s specialized universities in maritime and sea related subjects. This university is a private foundation university which was founded by the Turkish maritime education foundation in 2008. The aim of this university and the foundation in general, is educating people who will improve maritime related projects of the country in the future. This university is one of the most selective universities in turkey, where students need to have very high scores to be admitted there.

The PRU is a relatively small university, located in the suburban parts of Istanbul. This university is located just by the water, to serve its purpose with more ease. The university owns a ship, which has been sailing since 1986. This ship is used for educational and practice purposes at the moment.

This university is a very small university with only 6 faculties, all related to the field of maritime. There are less than 5 thousand students studying at this university in only 11 associate degree, 13 undergraduate, 15 Master’s degree and 5 PhD programs. Admissions and application requirements

With only %25 acceptance rate, PRU is one of the most selective higher education centers in Turkey. They rely on entrance examinations and student profiles for admission. The application for this university is online and documents are not suggested during the application process. But after starting the application process the documents listed below will be needed.

Required Documents for Application

1.  Application form.
2.  One exam result or diploma (YOS, SAT, ACT, …).
3. Copy of High School diploma (photocopy), with its translation if it is in another language except from English or Turkish.
4. Certified transcript which demonstrates the lessons and grades student received in High School education process. It is required to be submitted in a sealed envelope.
5. Copy of one affirmed (accepted) language proficiency exam result by university (TOEFL, IELTS).
6. If it is available, one academic reference letter (optional).

The documents must be sent or delivered in person. They should not be the copies of the documents, original files are required.
